Thesis title:  Fission track thermochronology and denudational response to tectonics in the north of Colombian Central Cordillera.
Supervisor:  Dr. H. Ohira (2001-2003).

The aim of my project is to apply fission track methodology (dating and thermochronology) to the study of several plutonic units in the northern Central Cordillera of the Colombian Andes. In addition to age determination, the data acquired in my study will permit reconstruction of the thermal histories experienced (cooling history), uplift rate and denudation rate.

The main focus of my work is the Antioquian Batholith, the most important pluton body in the area. This is a very interesting Cretaceous pluton which is distinguished by its enormous size - about 8000 km2. Samples from smaller bodies in the area will also be examined. These include the Sonson Batholith and the AltaVista, Ovejas, San Diego and La Union stocks.

Spanish.
