Thesis title:  Research of formaldehyde emission from wood-based panel.
Supervisor:  Prof. T. Furuno (2002-2004).

There is a problem with wood-based panels manufactured by UF resin-formaldehyde emission. Many scientific and technical workers have intensively studied formaldehyde, including its harmfulness for health, measuring method, factors affecting formaldehyde emission, methods for reducing formaldehyde emission, and testing standards of formaldehyde emission. The published literature is extensive.

China has been late in researching formaldehyde emissions of wood-based panel. In general, formaldehyde emission of wood-based panel manufactured in China is relatively higher than that from other products. The effect of this on the environment cannot be ignored. Consequently, study of formaldehyde emissions from wood-based panel has important and practical significance.

My dissertation may be composed of six independent but closely related chapters of research on formaldehyde emissions from wood-based panel. Each chapter has a key content and references are enclosed. The overall conclusions will be given at the end of the thesis.

The titles of the chapters are:

  1. Study background of formaldehyde emissions from wood-based panel
  2. A new method for measuring formaldehyde emissions from wood-based panel ---Air exhaust method
  3. Quantitative analysis of formaldehyde emission sources in wood-based panel and research on system equilibrium
  4. Principles of formaldehyde emission from wood-based panel and treatment in vacuum
  5. Rule of formaldehyde emission of wood-based panel
  6. Relationship between formaldehyde emission from wood-based panel and interior environment
