The object of my study is the gold-bearing Chaarat deposit, which is located within the Pskem and Sandalash Ranges of the Kyrgyz Tien Shan, in the Chatkal administrative district of the Jalal-Abad region, Kyrgyz Republic. The Chatkal Valley has proved to be of interest to many explorers, not only for its numerous placer deposits, but also due to the presence of a number of ore occurrences and deposits. The Chaarat deposit is one of these occurrences, but it has not yet been studied in details.

The deposit formed in the last stage of the Permian orogenesis which was completed by the intrusion of diorite masses. All known ore occurrences and deposits formed as a result of hydrothermal alteration which is clearly inassociated with tectonic weaknesses such as faults crush zone.

The aim of my study is to define the physical and chemical conditions, and the stages of mineralization in the Chaarat gold antimony deposit. Study of these stages will enable us to correlate the Chaarat mineralization with specific complexes of intrusive and metasomatic rocks. This may assist in the discovery of similar ore occurrences at the flanks of the Chaarat deposit and in the surrounding area. Together with study of minerals assemblages, I hope to define the present erosion level, to help with prospecting the deposit depth.
