Areas of interest:

Environmental geology, evaluation of changes of environment using geochemical parameters. Effects of land use and human activities on the natural environment. NGO activities contributing to help people suffering from the arsenic crisis in ground water in Asia.

Current projects:
  1. Geological and geochemical studies of arsenic contamination of ground water in Bangladesh. Enlightenment of significance of ecosystem for the arsenic circulation in the natural environment. Future study of the bioremediation of arsenic toxicity within the biological chains. Degradation of arsenic concentrations in ground water using local geologic matter.
  2. Study of geochemical compositions of coastal lagoon muds for understanding biological diversity and environments. Evaluation of the changes of intertidal flats (mud lagoon) and bio-hazard due to land use and reclamation in Southwest Japan and western Korea, especially the effect of dyking for reclamation on such environments.
