Areas of interest:

Sedimentology of siliciclastic sediments and stratigraphy of tectonically active basins

Current projects:
(1) Sequence stratigraphy of tectonically active basins.

The aims of this study are to describe stacking patterns of strata in tectonically active basins such as forearc and intermontane basins, and to estimate tectonic control on the basin fills. The main study areas are the Shizuoka and Boso districts of Japan, the Kathmandu Valley (Nepal), and the Kenya Rift.

(2) Study on grain fabric of gravity flow sediments.

The goal of this study is to understand gravity flow deposits such as turbidites and debris flow deposits, by means of grain fabric analysis.
