Thesis title:  Mineralogy and genetic aspects of gold mineralization in the Moyale volcano-sedimentary and ultramafic belt, Southern Ethiopia.
Supervisor:  Prof. M. Akasaka (2000-2002).

The objective of my study is to establish an ore genetic model encompassing the source of the gold and associated metals, the source of the hydrothermal fluids and the mechanism of gold transport and deposition, to assist with future exploration. The methods of investigation I am using include field mapping and sampling, detailed petrographic study of silicate and ore minerals, EPMA and/or SEM, XRF, and fluid inclusion studies. By interpreting the results from the above methods, we will try to outline the key geological, geochemical and structural parameters for cost-effective and time efficient exploration for gold in the Moyale area and similar geological environments elsewhere.
